We spent the first few days of Level 2 reflecting on life in our bubble, and what life will mean for us moving forward. So, of course, we studied bubbles, blew and playing with bubbles, and then created our own bubble art. Finally, we joined our bubbles together to represent the rejoining of our class.

The Magic Land
Our focus blend was -nd. We found so many words that had the -nd blend sound in it. We also added images of the things that we would want to see in our Magic Land.
Alley Cats
Imagine you were an Alley Cat. What would you do? How would you move around the streets and alleys?

The Spy Meeting
"We are spies, we are spies, you can tell we are spies!"
Last week we dressed up as spies and went into our backyards with our note pads to spy on what we could find. I love the way that Zoe made her own binoculars. I spied birds eating my plants and caterpillars chomping the vegetable leaves. What did you spy?
Isolation Appreciation
I just love to read the top 10 list of what you appreciate most while in isolation. We can't control things but we can make the most of it. I appreciate the special times that you have shared Rongomatane.
Distance Learning Reflections
As we move closer to returning to school it seemed like the right time to reflect on how this experience has been for us all as learners.

Food fit for a King
Our shared book last week was, Food fit for a King, by Jill Eggleton. It was very popular with the children and they enjoyed the questions throughout. For this task, they were asked to finish the story with their own ending. Some very thoughtful and kind ideas shared.
I Wish...
For our shared poem, I Wish... we took a close look at the blend, -ft. Our task was to find the -ft words in the poem and then list as many -ft words that we know. As part of our presentation, we shared a place that we wished to go and the gift we would bring back.

Orange Math
Last week, Mrs Mill posted a new challenge about oranges - wedges to be exact. How many wedges could you estimate? How many parts of the whole do you think there are? How many oranges does that make then? Some fabulous estimation, mathematical thinking, models, and equations shared.

Silly Sentences
Silly sentences are a popular way to get started with writing your own sentences. They don't have to make sense but they must be fun to write! If it makes you giggle, then you are doing it right. Go ahead - give it a try!
Once Upon a Picture
This week we are thinking about the picture, "The Tree". There were lots of questions to get us thinking and inspired to write. The beauty of this is that you can take your writing in any direction you like.
Free Writing
I have loved the writing that has been shared from students that they have done, simply because they enjoy it - whether it's the subject or the need to share an experience. It also gives the freedom to express yourself. Have fun with it! I look forward to more next week.
Word Detectives - Long -i Sound
We have been acting as Word Detectives as we take a close look at words that have the long -i sound. This piece of word work comes from Wainui School. Isn't it great that teachers can collaborate across schools? Thank you!
Isolation Appreciation Writing
Here are another one of the offerings from the same stupendous teacher. This time we make a list of things that we have appreciated during our time in isolation. This was added last week so we will be adding on to this slide deck as students writing comes in.
Life in Your Bubble
This was part of the slide deck that another wonderful teacher shared so I set it up for our tamariki. I have spoken to the students that have done this writing activity and they really enjoyed it. They had to think about bubble experiences that started with words from the alphabet. Their bubble A-Z gives us insight into how this experience has been for them. Enjoy!
WoW - Stupendous
Our word of the week from our shared book, The Amazing Machine, was stupendous. See if you can find some other words that mean stupendous from the work shared by our students.
