Jack and the Beanstalk with Mote

The wonderful Megan has been busy making pieces to support our focus on Fairy Tales. These stories follow a fiction storyline sequence that helps teach students how a story flows.

A few weeks ago, Amie from Manaiakalaani showed me how to use Mote. It records short snippets of thinking. I have used Mote to record students thinking about what they thought might happen next in the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Here is what we did...

  1. It was so lovely to be involved yesterday, being able to read the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, while Mrs Hannah acted out the story with the characters and the props. Every child was completely enthralled. This made all my effort of creating the characters and the props worth while.

  2. Thank you Megan. Our focus on the Science of Reading makes full use of stories with puppets and props as well as nursery rhymes. We are so lucky to have your skills to help make this way of learning so interactive.

  3. Dear Rongomatane,
I am a facilitator like Mrs Williams who comes to your school working with classes and teachers to use the power of digital technologies. Like your teacher, I have used Mote as well and I really like the good quality recording. I could hear all your voices really clearly in this mahi.

I loved hearing your ideas about what happened next. I also think it would be a good idea to buy the cow back!

What other fairy tales did you read? What is your favourite? My favourite is Rumplestiltskin.
